Women's Health
Women and men have many of the same health problems and health care needs but women can be affected differently. For example, women may have different symptoms of heart disease. Some diseases or conditions are more common in women such as osteoarthritis, obesity and depression. Some conditions such as menopause and pregnancy are unique to women only. Women sometimes neglect their own health and focus instead on their partners' and their children's. Medics Without Borders provides health education programs to help women understand their own anatomy and physiology. Some of the awareness/educational programs we provide include the following:
- Pregnancy and its related complications.
- Menopause.
- Breast Cancer.
- Uterine Cancer.
- Ovarian Cancer.
- Cultural prejudices associated with being a woman in the indigenous cultures.
- Spousal Abuse.
- Infertility problems from cultural and religious perspectives.
- Challenges of full time work and other family responsibilities.
- Mental health problems resulting from abuses of all kinds.
- Cervical Cancer.
- Widowhood Practices.
